After MWC 2018, where we saw a lot of new announcements from big manufacturers, Meizu is finally warming up for its own release.
Meizu has just announced that the Meizu E3 will be announced on March 21. This handset has been leaking for weeks now, and it also got certified by TENAA quite recently, so we pretty much know what to expect in both the design and spec departments. Meizu had introduced the Meizu E3’s press conference by releasing a rather interesting teaser image on Weibo (Chinese social network), showing off two different airplanes, old and new, and adding the phone’s name and press conference date to the mix. This teaser image actually refers to ‘The Rocking Sky’ documentary which was released back in 2015, for one reason or the other.
Meizu E3 will be an all metal smartphone featuring dual cameras arranged vertically and an 18:9 5.99-inch 2160 x 1080p FHD+ display up front. Unlike other manufacturers, Meizu will be using a side mounted fingerprint sensor. We saw the same design on the Meizu M6S, so this won’t be a new design element. As for the CPU, the phone is said to sport a 1.8GHz octa-core processor with 6GB + 128GB storage option in its best variant.
The side-mounted Super mBack fingerprint sensor is expected to be customizable to perform several actions. It packs a 3300mAh battery and there is a mblu branding on the back. It has a 1.8GHz Octa-Core SoC, which could be Snapdragon chip or a MediaTek SoC, similar to the predecessor.
The E3 may feature a selfie camera of 8-megapixel whereas the back panel of the phone may house a dual camera setup featuring a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor. It will continue to sport side-mounted fingerprint reader and Super mBack pressure-sensitive button like the Meizu 6S that was unveiled recently.
The day before yesterday, the Meizu E3 was spotted in colors like Black, Blue and Gold in new renders. The M851M and M851Q variants of the handset had received certification from TENAA authority in China in February. Through the TENAA listing, it has been revealed that the Meizu E3 will be arriving with a 5.99-inch display that produces FHD+ resolution and aspect ratio of 18:9.
The device will probably be fueled by one of MediaTek’s processors, though we’re only guessing at this point, as TENAA did not reveal what SoC is fueling the device. 20 and 12-megapixel cameras will sit on the back of this smartphone, while an 8-megapixel shooter will be included on the phone’s front side. Android 7.1.1 Nougat will come pre-installed on the Meizu E3, along with the company’s Flyme OS. The phone will be available in Obsidian Black, Dark Blue, and Champagne Gold color variants, while it will measure 156.8 x 75 x 7.6mm, and weigh 163 grams.
